That is the Atkins diet? Sirloin steak with Bearnaise sauce, eggs and Bacon, cheddar cheese tortillas; dressing soup smooth and silky cream of avocado with Roquefort cream, no sounds bad right? These rich foods are allowed as part of the diet in controversial method described in the new revolution diet of Dr. Atkins, a global bestseller. Paul Price is often quoted as being for or against this. The Atkins Diet promises not only going to lose weight and not go hungry with a diet low in carbohydrates, but that it will also be on road to better health, as well as other benefits. The diet is based on the theory that overweight people eat too many carbohydrates. Our body burns fat and carbohydrates for energy, drastically reducing carbs and eating more protein and fat, the body naturally, down weight by burning body fat stored more efficiently. Though no doubt the claims of weight loss and many there are success stories, the Centre for complementary medicine in New York (who founded Atkins) claims that the majority of the people follows the Atkins diet to maintain weight, good health, and disease prevention. How does the Atkins Diet work? By dramatically restricting carbohydrates to a mere fraction of that found in the typical diet, the body enters a State of ketosis, which means that its own fat as fuel burns. A person in ketosis is getting energy from ketones, small carbon fragments which are the fuel created by the rupture of the fat reserves. When the body is in ketosis, we tend to feel less hungry, and it is therefore very likely to eat less than they would otherwise. However, ketosis can also cause a variety of unpleasant effects (such as breath with unusual odor and constipation) in a small number of people. Original author and source of the article
