There is evidence that indicates that the best treatment for Diabetes type 2 can also be the most dramatic: surgery to reduce the stomach, accompanied by perhaps of intestinal rearrangement. These as extreme remedies are even considered as a measure of what so intractable have become two epidemics related to one another in the United States: Obesity and diabetes. Any type diabetes is a disease that kills 73,000 Americans each year, making the fifth leading cause of death in this country. This condition is characterized by the inability to produce or use insulin, resulting in levels in the blood rise, damaging the kidneys, blood vessels of the eyes, and nerves of the feet. There is no cure for diabetes, only the hope of being able to control it with strict diets, drugs and a lifetime of care.

Unfortunately, many patients are unable to meet such strict regime, the kilos that are lost will rise again and many of them suffer attacks the heart, blindness, failure in the kidney or amputation of the feet. A new study by Australian researchers, published in the journal of the American Medical Association, promises extraordinary results, despite the entire panorama against, and even with warnings about the preliminary results in a relatively small group of patients who had diabetes at slight grade. We studied 60 obese patients and were recently diagnosed with Diabetes type 2. Half of them were given conventional treatment, including diet, exercise and medications the rest got conventional treatment more surgery in which is placed a band around the stomach (known as lap band), shrinking its size and limit of food. In almost three-quarters of the patients who had surgery, all signs of diabetes disappeared.

Only 13% of patients with conventional therapy had complete remissions. The difference was due to loss of weight. Patients in the medically treated group lost only 1.7% of its weight on average. Those who had one surgery lost a 20.7%. No serious complications with the procedure were minimally invasive. Other studies show that the gastric bypass surgery, a more risky operation in which the stomach is stapled and the reacomodado intestinal tract, is much more effective, achieving remission of the disease in a matter of days or weeks, much before the occurrence of a loss of substantial weight in the individual. This is apparently because surgery produces metabolic changes that lower glucose levels in the blood, more than simple weight loss can do. Some experts predict that surgery will become an increasingly common treatment in the coming years. Before that happens, it is essential to see the results of patients and discover which patients can benefit much more from costly surgeries that always contain some risk. Conclusion: In Adios-obesidad we can offer you an appropriate treatment for you, through band or gastric sleeve surgery gastric balloon and gastric bypass.
